Via Latin America Counsel Association / October 2020
The Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA) of the British Law Business Research group recognized Miguel Gallardo Guerra, BGBG partner, as one of the best lawyers in Mexico in the Banking & Finance and Corporate and M & A areas.
Methodology
The frequent feedback from LACCA members at meetings and elsewhere is that finding trustworthy, consistently good counsel in Latin America is still difficult. Thus LACCA launched our Approved lawyers, who are lawyers from private practice who have been personally recommended by our members, the top general counsel from around the region.
Once a year, all LACCA members are asked to nominate their preferred external counsel in specific areas of law. Only members, who are all leading in-house counsel, are eligible to vote, for any private practice lawyer working in Latin America. Any lawyer working full-time for a company, and working with Latin America, is eligible to join the association, and thus participate in the research.
In the research process, these nominations from members are verified, counted and also weighted, with the region’s biggest buyers of legal services being given more prominence in the process. Private practitioners are then selected for inclusion, by practice area and by country.
Within that selection, Approved lawyers are also ranked based on the number of nominations received, and the prominence of the clients nominating them. The listings published annually on our website reflect these rankings; within a band of a certain number of votes, lawyers are listed alphabetically by surname. Members and readers can filter or search by country from each practice area page.
The results are published on this site, and in our annual print LACCA Handbook, which is also posted to all members for whom we have a physical address.
Members and readers with any questions on the research process should email us.
